Welcome to the captivating world of Marty Farrer-Williams Art! In this blog post, titled "Exploring the Subconscious: A Journey through Marty Farrer-Williams Art," I will take you on an journey of my artwork from Expressive Figurative paintings through to Crabby Creatures. My focus is on visualizing feelings, emotions, and the lives of the subconscious. Through a passion for creativity and a commitment to delivering high-quality art. I want you to connect with the feelings and emotions portrayed in the paintings and get something from it. More than just a colourful picture on a wall. One of my unique aspects is the use of mixed media techniques. I incorporate spray paint, ink, and Charcoal to create captivating and thought-provoking pieces. This combination of different mediums adds depth and texture to the artworks, allowing them to truly come alive. Its with ink though where my true passion lies. I am hugely ispired by the works of Ralph Steadman, Gerald Scarfe and even Quentin Blake. The target audience for the figurative artworks are individuals who seek unique and evocative pieces to add to their collections. From feedback I have found that they have something in common. They all had a level of struggle in their lives. Mental illhealth, tough days, some sort of difficulty in their lives. The artwork reminds them that they are not alone. Some pieces even give them hope, a little smile and the courage to carry on. I aim to provide them with exactly what they are looking for - artworks that go beyond the limitations of the eyes and touch the depths of the soul. The Crabby Creatures have always been a focal point of my work, I painted them for fun. They make me happy and I used to love seeing the smiles when selling at craft markets. I was torn however, I thought it was more impressive to paint the large figurative works. Did I want to be remembered as an illustrator of crabby looking animals? I then spoke to some of my top clients and asked them why they bought the animals. Shockingly it was for exactly the same reason as the figurative works. The grumpy looks reminded them that even an animal can have an off day, they put a smile on their face when they woke up in the morning or when they got to the office. I then understood it did not matter what I painted the same meaning, thoughts and emotions come through all of my art. There was a cohesive nature to my work and this is a strength I needed to learn. I decied to focus on the Crabby Creatures, they got the same response, they caused the same effect but it was not as much of a battle to paint them and in the end sell them. I was finding my artistic voice, my style and my niche. I begun expanding their universe, their potential. The products! The Books! So, just before Christmas I made the decision to put away the figurative works (for now) and niche down on my crabby friends. I turned my website into this, the home of the Crabby Creatures. On the website, you will find an insight into my background and inspiration. The portfolio showcases a selection of the my works, giving you a taste of the Crabby Creatures unique style and vision. Additionally, there is a list of exhibitions of where I have exhibited and where you can view the artworks in person and potentially make a purchase. (Just pop along to Gallery Thirteen in Haslemere). I am now expanding the online presence and working on new products. I have started the Crabby Creature YouTube channel, where you can win art works I create doing challenges. I have launched a Patreon which is a monthly subscription based community where you get exclusive material and an opportunity to help guide and form the furture of the Crabbyverse. So, if you are ready to embark on a journey through the captivating world of the Crabby Creatures, be prepared to be transported to a realm where feelings, emotions, and the subconscious come to life. Explore the unique and evocative creations and discover the power of art to transcend the limitations of the eyes. Welcome to the world of the Crabby Creatures!
